Skillman Library, Simon Room
March 21 – June 30, 2011
Skillman Library celebrates the marvelous book works of artist Lois Morrison. And what marvels they are—from her unique renderings of the poems of Stephen Crane, Bret Harte, Herman Melville, and Wilfred Owen to fanciful stories peopled by characters of her own creation—Marco Bull, Lone Capybara, the Yellow Goat, Mound Man, and Ste. Ostrich. Morrison works in fabric and paper, but that is just the beginning—all manner of objects she has found and rescued from oblivion make delightful (or ominous) guest appearances—broken dolls, turkey feet, x-rays, and bits of rock, metal, and bone. Morrison’s works are amusing, surprising, haunting, and always highly engaging.
