Photograph, Reference, Memorabilia, Media, and Diploma Collections document the history of Lafayette College.

Reference Collections

Collections contain clippings, documents, and publications relating to the history of Lafayette College; ephemera highlighting the College's athletic program; and oversize materials from Manuscript Collections, College Archives, and Rare Book Collections.

Photograph Collections

Dating from 1858 to the present day, the Photograph Collection contains approximately 75,000 photographic images and provides a visual record of the development of Lafayette College. The collection is a resource for images of individuals associated with the college, campus events, and the physical development of the buildings and grounds.

Media Collections

Reel to reel films, audio cassettes, video cassettes, CDs, DVDs, and miscellaneous archival formats document Lafayette College events from the 19th century to the present. More than fifty oral history tapes document the social changes of the early 1970s with the arrival of the first women students and record numbers of African Americans. Over 2000 sports films date from 1937 through the last decade.

Memorabilia Collection

Freshman beanies, “L” sweaters, reunion sashes, sporting event medals and trophies, championship game footballs, and the Pardee Hall cornerstone box are all found within this collection of Lafayette College historical objects and ephemera.

Collection features various diplomas given by Lafayette College throughout the years, including the first ever issued, to George Washington Kidd, in 1836.
