James P. Crawford (1935-2003) earned his bachelor’s degree from Grove City College in 1957 and joined the Lafayette College mathematics department as an instructor the same year. After numerous promotions and receiving both his masters (1961) and doctorate (1966) from Lehigh University, Crawford was appointed full professor in 1994. He served as the head of the mathematics department from 1985-1991, the resident advisor of McKelvy House from 1967-1974, and faculty advisor to the McKelvy Scholars Program from approximately 1979-1991. The teaching and administrative files include Crawford’s graduate school theses; exams, exercises, syllabi, and correspondence related to classes he taught; copies of lectures delivered at special events; and material related to his participation in various Lafayette committees. Also included are files maintained by Crawford as resident advisor for the McKelvy Scholars Program, including administration of the program and McKelvy House lectures and events.
