With 11 pieces dating from 1917-1962, the collection celebrates women who fought for the right to vote in their countries, including photographs of a suffrage demonstrations or marches in Petrograd, Russia; Mexico City; and Argentina. Other photographs show women voting, often for the first time, in Bogota, Colombia; Algeria; France; South Korea; and more. Additional photographs include Miss Shizuye Miyakawa, notable Japanese suffragette and social reformer; Mrs. Aurora Quezon, First Lady of the Philippines and supporter of women’s suffrage; and the first elected female municipal councilor in France.
