Horatio Gates Fisher graduated from Lafayette College in 1855. He was a merchant of the firm of Fisher & Miller, miners and shippers of semi-bituminous coal. Fisher was State Senator 33d Pa. District from 1875-1878 and an elected Member of Congress from 1878-1882. His son Thomas, Class of 1888, was a trustee of Lafayette College from 1916-1944. The college’s athletic field and stadium built in 1926 was named in his honor.
