Johannes Alexander Gaertner was Professor of Art History at Lafayette College. The Gaertner papers documents his 30 years on the Faculty at Lafayette College (1947-1977). Included are numerous personal files, beginning with his birth in Germany in 1912 and continuing through his departure, during the Nazi years, to Peru and his subsequent immigration to the United States. The files also contain scrapbooks, diaries, and personal and professional correspondence.
