Harvey Claude Updegrove (born October 16, 1886 in Easton, Pa.) graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Lafayette College in 1907. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1911. During World War I, Updegrove was a captain in the Medical Corps and was severely wounded at the Battle of Ypres. Later, he received the British Military Cross for his distinguished service. After the war, he returned to Easton where he practiced medicine and was a surgeon at Easton Hospital for many years before his death in 1962. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
His scrapbook contains memorabilia from his student days at Lafayette from 1903-1907 and contains newspaper clippings about campus events and sports, college pamphlets, dance cards, social invitations, and items relating to the Franklin Literary Society, his fraternity Delta Kappa Epsilon, and his election to Phi Beta Kappa.
